About

Hi! I’m Lucy, main writer of this blog, full time apprentice carpenter, part-time streamer, biker chick, vagabond and occasional model.

I grew up in a small town near Toronto, Canada and moved to the city of Barrie for ten years. A couple of years ago I signed as a carpenter’s apprentice and I had my first travel card in 2023. I’ve always had wanderlust and a love of going on long drives, so I fell in love with Northern Ontario and the Vagabond lifestyle. As of February 2024 I am officially homeless, as the only address I have is a P.O. box in Thunder Bay, and I’ll be living out of hotels, hostels and couch-surfing. I started this blog to chronicle the pros and cons of this lifestyle and the tips I’m picking up along the way.

The name of the blog, wanderjahre, is a German phrase meaning “wandering years” for when tradesmen, upon becoming journeymen, would travel the countryside perfecting their trade.
