Just kidding. I just love the song.
I’ll finish writing the next couple of posts, I promise. But I’m knackered.
The flight home was uneventful. I arrived at Calgary on time and spent the night at the home of a Soroptimist who made me a steak dinner and offered me French toast for breakfast. She also offered to drive me around sightseeing or even go for a walk by the river, but I was so exhausted I didn’t even make it to 7:30 before I crashed.
My flight back to Tbay was delayed slightly but nothing crazy. Emily and Hanuman picked me up at the airport and put me up for the night. Paul picked me up the next day and chauffeured me around as I got moved back into my old place. As always, I am in awe of how blessed I am to have such caring people around me.
I got extra lucky. My old room was not available and I’m on the third floor, but I’m the only one up here, which means I get the bathroom all to myself (for now). I have an amazing view of the bay, and it’s quiet.
I’m back at the mill. No one can tell I’ve been gone for 7 months. My feet are killing me because I twisted my ankle at the conference and now I’m stomping around in steel-toed boots. Everyone’s trying to figure out a carpool that makes sense, but soon enough I’ll have enough money to get a car. We’re already on nine’s. No rest for the wicked. My new foreman is a biker and K dropped off a litre bottle of whisky for me as a ‘welcome home’ gift, because the more things change the more they stay the same. Some of the guys from Fort Frances are here, but they don’t know about me and Kyle, so I’m just struggling to keep my mouth shut every time they mention what a great guy he is. I got his number blocked, just in case someone mentions my name to him and he gets any ideas.
I went sailing on Monday. Barely rusty. It was great to see Chris again.
Can’t wait to see Kevin this weekend.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank my readers for sticking with me. Keep yourselves subscribed; this isn’t goodbye, just farewell. When I travel again/ when I start building my little cabin, I’ll probably fire this back up and you won’t want to miss it. I’ll hammer out the posts about Korea when I have some time to breathe.
And remember; it ain’t over ’til it’s over. As long as your heart is beating and there’s breath in your lungs, you can change. You can grow. You can accomplish things.
Go get that horizon.
